| District Update |
At this writing fall is right around the corner. I for one will enjoy the cooler temperatures as this summer has been dry and hot. With the change in seasons, District staff will start on its fall/winter projects. Staff will continue with the installation of water meter pits on Kingston and Monarch within Ranchos Estates. These are the last two streets within the Estates that will be upgraded. The installation of meter pits allows for backflow protection of the Districts water mains. By using in house labor, the District has saved thousands of dollars in labor costs and provides excellent training to its employees. District Staff has also replaced water main within all the cul de sacs in the Rancho Estates. Future meter replacement projects include Riverview Dr. (out of District users) and Sequoia Village Condominium complex. The District will continue to focus on the weed spraying, removal of weeds and keeping our open space and right of ways clean during the winter months. The District asks for your help in keeping the open areas clean. There have been instances of residents using the open areas for their own personal dumping grounds. The District will continue to improve on Mitch Drive Park by removing sage brush around the entrance. The District found that prices for its 2008 Street Improvement Project were so good that the Board directed Staff to also go to bid for the Districts 2009 project nine months early. The District again received an excellent bid and decided to award both projects. Wilson Construction won both bids. They have done an excellent job for the District in past years. The District apologizes for the inconvenience of this spring and summers projects but the end product was worth it in price and quality. The District thanks Wilson Construction for another job well done.
Fall elections are right around the corner. Long time Board Trustee Beverly Page was informed via a Nevada Supreme Court ruling that she is term limited out and will not be running for reelection as reported in the winter 2007 edition of the Districts newsletter. Beverly has served on the Board since 1981. Her common sense and dedication to the District will be missed. Thank you Beverly for your many years of service to our community. The remaining candidates are incumbent Cade Baligad, David Bourne and Jeremy Davidson running for the two seats up for election. This is your District so please be informed about the candidates when you vote.
