Mitch Park new playground area for kids two through twelve years old

The Gardnerville Ranchos GID Board of Trustees are continuing their commitment to construct recreation projects within the Mitch Drive Park as well as keeping its’ Bluerock Park in pristine condition.

At present, Mitch Drive Park has tennis courts, walking trail, equestrian trail and children’s play area. The Board has directed staff to look at an inline hockey area and a skateboard park area. Staff has determined that there is enough area in the Park as depicted on the Park’s Master Plan for both facilities. In the coming months, the District will bring a design for the skateboard/inline skating area back to the Board for further discussion. The inline area will have boards and marked areas for inline hockey or just street hockey. This will allow for children and adults to partake in this sport.

The District was turned down for a grant from Question One monies to construct a fishing pond within Mitch Drive Park by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The District felt the reasons for being turned down were not adequate and has discussed and supplied more information to the Department of Wildlife hoping the request will be looked upon favorably the second time around.

The District has held numerous workshops and public hearings regarding the Park and feels the approved Master Plan will serve our residents needs for many years to come.
