Public Safety/Snow Removal Policy The District has seen letters to the editor in the recent past about speeding in the Ranchos and what can be done about it. The District’s policy on speed control is located within its’ Policies and Procedures Manual which is located on the District’s website at www.GRGID.com. The policy will lead you through the process of requesting speed control devices.

A question the District answers frequently in the winter is how do we determine when to call out the snow plows. The District maintains over 45 miles of roads. The District has a limited amount of snow removal equipment and manpower therefore we contract for snow removal. For the past five years, the District has contracted with Curtis and Sons who have done an excellent job. The District not only looks at the amount of snow on the ground but forecasted weather predictions. If there is approximately 6 inches of snow on the ground and weather predictions call for continued snow with cold weather, the District will call out the snow plows. The plows start with the most traveled roads first then go into the remainder of the District. District personnel sand streets when slippery and will start plowing District facilities first thing in the morning. The snow removal policy is located within the District’s policies and procedures manual located at District Office or on the web at www.GRGID.com.
